Work from home policy implemented in Smog affected areas

The Punjab government has introduced a work-from-home policy for office workers in smog-affected areas as severe air pollution impacts millions. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that public and private offices in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan will operate with 50 percent in-person staff to help reduce pollution levels.

This measure aims to limit exposure to hazardous air and decrease transportation, a significant contributor to the smog. Additionally, the government has ordered school closures in affected districts and mandated mask-wearing in smog-hit areas to protect public health.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that schools will stay closed until November 17, with classes shifting online. She added that winds from India have intensified the smog in Multan, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Gujranwala.
