Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the launch of a Bone Marrow Transplant Card to provide free treatment for patients in the province.
Under her initiative, 150 successful bone marrow transplants have been conducted at Lahore’s Children’s Hospital, which is the first public-sector facility in Pakistan to offer such procedures.
The government covers over Rs4.2 million per transplant, and the hospital has treated patients from across Pakistan and Afghanistan. The success rate of the transplants exceeds 89%, aligning with international standards.
Maryam emphasized that no child should be denied treatment due to financial constraints and vowed to allocate resources to ensure children’s health.
