The Power Division has recovered over Rs114 billion through a nationwide crackdown on electricity theft, initiated by Pakistan’s government and military to revive the economy.
Over 84,500 individuals involved in power theft were arrested. In September alone, more than Rs1 billion was collected from electricity thieves in cities like Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Islamabad.
The crackdown, launched on September 6 last year, aims to reduce the power sector’s Rs589 billion annual loss caused by theft and unpaid bills. The crackdown follows widespread protests over inflated power bills across Pakistan
