Pakistan’s raw food exports rose by 1.62% to $5.75 billion in the first nine months of FY25

Pakistan’s raw food exports rose by 1.62% to $5.75 billion in the first nine months of FY25, up from $4.66 billion last year. The growth was led by increased shipments of sugar and basmati rice, despite soaring domestic food inflation.

Sugar exports surged to 757,779 tonnes due to a relaxed policy, although none were recorded in March 2025. Basmati rice exports rose 21.78% in quantity and 8.78% in value, while non-basmati rice exports fell 9.87% in value.

Meat exports grew by 0.99% due to new markets and slaughterhouse approvals, though local prices remain high. Emerging markets like Bangladesh present new opportunities for rice exports.
