Pakistan’s agricultural sector earned international acclaim as Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Markhand, a renowned researcher from Shah Latif University Khairpur, Sindh, received the prestigious Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation in the “Influential Figure” category.

The award was presented at a grand ceremony held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, attended by delegates from 66 countries. Dr. Markhand’s achievement underscores Pakistan’s significant role in global agricultural research and innovation.

Speaking to Geo News, he expressed pride in receiving the award, noting that over 180 scholars from 28 nations had submitted entries in the category.
