Pakistani company Sazgar Engineering has been exporting traditional 4-stroke CNG auto rickshaws to Japan for over 12 years. These rickshaws are well-known in Japan for their colorful designs and cultural charm, often used for fun and short-distance travel.

According to the company’s sales head, the small size of the rickshaws makes them ideal for Japan’s narrow streets. They are the only three-wheelers allowed on highways there, running at speeds of up to 50 km/h while meeting Japan’s road safety standards.

Sazgar sees potential in expanding this unique export. The company believes that by maintaining and improving quality, Pakistan can grow its share in international markets with these locally made rickshaws.
