Pakistan to lower Charging Prices to boost Electric Vehicle Demand

Pakistan is taking steps to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) by slashing power prices at EV charging stations. Power Minister Awais Leghari revealed that the government is working on a new pricing structure to make EVs more affordable and accessible.
This incentive will cover all charging and battery swapping stations for small cars, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers. As part of this push, several auto companies, particularly from China, have introduced EV models in the country this year. Meanwhile, a partnership between Chinese automaker BYD and Pakistan State Oil aims to set up a nationwide EV charging network.
With electricity demand declining and rising prices, the government is also exploring energy sector reforms to ensure long-term sustainability.
