Pakistan and Bangladesh have officially resumed direct trade for the first time since 1971
Pakistan and Bangladesh have officially resumed direct trade for the first time since 1971, with the first government-approved cargo departing from Port Qasim. This marks a major step in strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
Bangladesh has agreed to buy 50,000 tonnes of Pakistani rice through the Trading Corporation of Pakistan. The first 25,000-tonne shipment is already on its way, while the second batch is set to leave in early March.
For the first time, a Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) vessel carrying government cargo will dock at a Bangladeshi port. This milestone is expected to boost trade and establish direct shipping routes.
