OGDCL has announced a major gas discovery Rahim Yar Khan

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a major gas discovery at its exploratory well, Chak 202-1, in District Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab Province. The well, which was spudded on June 29, 2024, has tested 6.15 million Standard Cubic Feet Per Day (MMSCFD) of gas, marking the second consecutive discovery in the Mari East Block.
The discovery demonstrates OGDCL’s commitment to harnessing the hydrocarbon potential of the Mari East Block through its robust exploration strategy. The company’s in-house expertise and technology have played a crucial role in the discovery, which is expected to contribute significantly to bridging the energy demand-supply gap in Pakistan.
The discovery is a significant boost to OGDCL’s hydrocarbon reserves and the country’s overall energy landscape. It opens new avenues for exploration and production, enhancing Pakistan’s energy security and reducing its reliance on imported fuels.
