Local mobile assembly and manufacturers in Pakistan produced 31.38 million mobile phones in the first half of 2024, while commercial imports stood at 1.71 million units.
The local production of 31.38 million devices saw a 47% year-on-year growth, with 18.64 million smartphones and 12.74 million 2G phones. This growth is largely driven by import restrictions, economic recovery, and a rise in locally assembled phones due to increased import taxes.
Infinix led production with 3.98 million units, followed by Itel (3.64 million) and VGO Tel (3.37 million). However, compared to 2022, production has declined due to economic challenges.
The smartphone market share reached 65%, reflecting an increase in internet access and mobile usage.
