Iraq has suggested a direct sea route between Basra and Karachi to improve trade and logistics

Iraq has suggested a direct sea route between Basra and Karachi to improve trade and logistics. The proposal was shared by Iraq’s Consul General Maher Mjhid Jejan during his visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

Both countries are also exploring cooperation in defense, intelligence, and counterterrorism. Iraq is inviting Pakistani investors to benefit from new investment laws and growing business opportunities.

KCCI officials highlighted the current trade figures and supported the idea of stronger trade links. They also discussed the potential for an oil pipeline between Basra and Gwadar.
