Government allocates RS 60 millions for scholarships aimed at non-Muslim students
October 11, 2024
Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs announced scholarships aimed at non-Muslim students to enhance educational opportunities for minority communities, which constitute less than 5% of the population. The government is committed to promoting inclusivity through initiatives like the Prime Minister’s Minority Scholarship Scheme and the Pakistan Minorities Scholarship Program.
These programs offer financial support covering tuition, stipends, book allowances, and travel grants based on academic merit, financial need, and citizenship.
A ministry spokesman stated that applications for this financial year’s scholarships will be submitted online through the ministry’s website. Approximately $210,000 (Rs60 million) has been allocated for this initiative. Eligibility requires non-Muslim students in government institutions to have scored at least 50% marks and to provide necessary documentation.
