Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Pakistan target of reaching $1 billion as an initial milestone

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, expressed optimism about the growing bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, with an ambitious target of reaching $1 billion as an initial milestone.

He highlighted key initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors, deepening industrial partnerships, and exploring new trade avenues, as reported by APP.

Bilateral trade turnover has seen consistent growth in recent years. According to Ambassador Tukhtaev, achieving sustained progress requires strengthening collaboration across all areas, advancing industrial synergies, and creating new trade opportunities.

The envoy noted a remarkable nearly fourfold increase in trade turnover over the past five years. Starting at $122 million in 2019, the figure is expected to surpass $400 million by the close of 2024.

The Ambassador emphasized the need for prioritizing improvements in transport and logistics infrastructure to bolster connectivity and facilitate trade between the two nations.
