Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, announced ambitious plans to increase Pakistan’s exports from $30 billion to $100 billion within the next seven to eight years. He emphasized that this growth is vital for the country’s survival and prosperity.

 

Iqbal called for a shift from a traditional economy to a technology-driven economy, highlighting the need for research, development, and innovation to gain a competitive edge globally. He also addressed climate change challenges, focusing on water and food security and the integration of technology in agriculture.

 

He stressed the importance of sustainable practices and investments aligned with the government’s 5Es Framework for development. Reflecting on Pakistan’s economic history, he noted the resilience required to overcome past crises and maintain political stability and good governance.

 

Drawing lessons from countries like South Korea, Malaysia, and China, Iqbal urged the need for consistent policies and long-term commitments to achieve sustainable growth for Pakistan.
