PM calls for urgent steps to make Gwadar Port operational
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered immediate steps to operationalise Gwadar Port on a commercial basis, Radio Pakistan reported.
Chairing a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday, the PM formed a committee, led by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, tasked with working alongside stakeholders to ensure the port’s development into a fully functional and modern hub.
“The Gwadar Port has the potential to transform into a key player in the regional economy, and we must expedite its operationalisation,” said PM Shehbaz, who also called for an international conference to raise awareness about the strategic importance of the port.
He stressed the importance of developing a comprehensive marketing strategy and strengthening diplomatic efforts to highlight the port’s potential.
