New Gwadar International Airport is set to launch its international operations with flights to Muscat starting January 10
The New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) is set to launch its international operations with flights to Muscat starting January 10, 2025.
This milestone under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) enhances Gwadar’s role as a regional transit hub. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the airport as a symbol of China-Pakistan friendship and a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and improved regional connectivity.
With state-of-the-art facilities, NGIA can handle A380 aircraft and accommodate up to 400,000 passengers annually. The first phase of the East-Bay Expressway, connecting the airport to Gwadar port, has been completed, with further expansion plans in progress.
PIA is increasing Karachi-Gwadar flights, and discussions are underway with international airlines to expand routes.
