86 eco-friendly electric buses will operate in Punjab in first phase

Punjab Transport Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javid Qazi announced that 86 eco-friendly electric buses will operate on six routes in the first phase, comprising 50 nine-metre and 36 eleven-metre buses.

The funding for the initiative has been approved by the Punjab Cabinet. Dr. Qazi made the announcement during his visit to Faisalabad to assess urban transport needs and launch intra-city electric buses.

He highlighted the importance of integrated planning and coordination with relevant departments. The metro bus project will be synchronized with the electric buses, with new depots planned at Ghulam Muhammadabad, Sargodha Road, and Gatwala.
