PAF developing AI-driven Aircraft
November 23, 2024
The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is working on a project to develop unmanned aircraft powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to operate alongside manned fighter jets in various combat scenarios.
This initiative was revealed as Pakistan launched its advanced drone, Shahpar-III, during the ongoing International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre.
Air Commodore Dr. Salman Aslam, who heads the Central Ward Intelligence and Computing at PAF, shared that the AI-based project began four years ago with the goal of creating a seamless integration of manned and unmanned aircraft. While no exact timeline was given for the introduction of this technology, it’s considered a game-changer in the future of air combat.
