Federal Minister for Communications, Privatisation, and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan has announced Pakistan’s goal to convert 30% of its vehicles to electric by 2030, as part of the country’s newly approved Electric Vehicle (EV) policy.
This initiative is a key step toward tackling climate change and advancing sustainable transportation. Khan highlighted ongoing efforts to support electric mobility, including the development of EV infrastructure like charging stations and increasing public awareness.
At COP29 in Baku, he discussed green urban transport, renewable energy projects, and Pakistan’s efforts to launch Karachi’s first fleet of biomethane hybrid buses. The minister also proposed Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) models for the National Green Transport Project, aiming for long-term success.
