Punjab government launched a free air ambulance service to assist underprivileged patients

The Punjab government has launched a free air ambulance service to assist underprivileged patients, covering all operational expenses. The service uses three small aircraft and two helicopters, costing the government $540 per hour.
To date, nearly 25 patients have been successfully transported via air ambulance. Air ambulances are stationed at three key locations across Punjab, with plans to establish additional landing zones for broader coverage.
Approved by the Punjab cabinet in March, this initiative aims to improve emergency medical services by providing essential medical equipment, life-saving medicines, and staff transportation. The aircraft are designed to operate from short runways, including national highways and motorways, ensuring efficient access to patients in need.
