Pakistan’s mobile phone sector has achieved a remarkable milestone, producing 22.59 million mobile devices in the first nine months of 2024. This includes 13.86 million smartphones and 8.73 million 2G feature phones, signifying a notable shift toward smartphone usage in the country.
According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), commercial imports during this period were limited to just 1.1 million units, showcasing a growing local manufacturing capacity. Infinix emerged as the top producer, manufacturing 2.79 million units in 2024.
While production has rebounded, it still lags behind previous years, with 24.66 million devices produced in 2021 and 21.28 million in 2023. The decline was primarily due to economic difficulties and import restrictions.
