BYD Pakistan, a joint venture between China’s BYD and Mega Motors, projects that up to 50% of auto sales in Pakistan will be electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030.
The company, which entered the Pakistani market last month, plans to introduce EVs later this year and open an assembly plant by early 2026.
Despite the ambitious target, achieving 50% EV adoption may be challenging due to infrastructure issues.
BYD Pakistan is working with oil companies to set up 20-30 charging stations and aims to focus on locally assembled vehicles to overcome import duty challenges.
