Pakistan to launch program to tackle air pollution

The Pakistani government, in collaboration with the UNDP, is launching a $594,748 Montreal Protocol Project to combat air pollution by targeting ozone and Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), funded by the Multilateral Fund Secretariat.

Scheduled for completion in 2027, the initiative was discussed by Romina Khursheed Alam, the PM’s Coordinator on Climate Change.

Additionally, the government is rolling out projects like the $28.72 million Sustainable Biomass Energy initiative and the $37 million GLOF-II project in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Monthly progress reviews will be conducted to ensure fast-tracking and climate resilience.
